Why did God choose to give the greatest message ever to a group of people no one else trusted? Let's take a look at The Christmas message given to shepherds.
What Can I Expect from a Group:
Every group takes on the life of those that make it up, but there are some elements that you'll find in all our groups:
Sharing - stories, burdens, life, and food
Learning - from God's word, and each other
Prayer - for each other, and ourselves
Service - to those around us, and each other
Growth - as a person, and follower of Jesus
If you'd like to know more about our groups give us a call at 360-692-6948 or e-mail us your questions.
23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Romans 3:23 (NLT)
24 Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.25 For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. Romans 3:24-25 (NLT)
Ignore His offer and keep treading water as long as we can...
Accept HIs offer and hold on to Him for the rest of our lives...
First, we have to put our trust in Jesus that He is able to pull us safely home.
22 We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. Romans 3:22 (NLT)
Second, we need to turn toward Jesus and away from our old lives.
4 Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin? Romans 2:4 (NLT)
Third, we must tell God we've accepted His offer.
9 If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. Romans 10:9-10 (NLT)
Fourth, we join our lives with Jesus.
3 Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? 4 For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. Romans 6:3-4 (NLT)
Finally, we travel with Jesus the rest of our lives.
24 So you must remain faithful to what you have been taught from the beginning. If you do, you will remain in fellowship with the Son and with the Father.25 And in this fellowship we enjoy the eternal life he promised us. 1 John 2:24-25 (NLT)
